Bemidji Community Education's Competitive Swimming class is designed to teach the essential techniques of the four swimming strokes used in competitive swimming (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly). Participants will also be instructed in racing starts and flip turns, and other aspects of competitive swimming. This class is for boys and girls in Grades 5-6 of all competitive swimming experience. Participants must be able to pass a swim test the first practice day. They must be swim one length of the pool front crawl and one length backstroke. The season will end on Nov 20th with an optional competitive meet. Participants will be able to sign up for events and compete against their teammates. Family and friends are invited to attend. More information will be sent out as this date approaches. Participants should bring their own swimsuit, swim cap, goggles and towel to each class.
