Heartsaver® CPR Certification ClassGeneral InterestsNeed CPR certification for work, school, coaching, or personal preparedness? This American Heart Association Heartsaver® CPR course is designed for anyone who wants to learn lifesaving skills and earn a CPR certification card. This blended-learning course combines a self-paced online learning module with an in-person skills session. Participants will complete the online portion before class (link provided upon registration) and then attend a hands-on skills test-out session with an instructor. During the course, participants will learn how to recognize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies, perform high-quality CPR, provide choking relief, and respond to common first aid situations. Hands-on practice helps build confidence and competence in lifesaving skills. Emergency Response & Safe Sleep (for infants)General InterestsThis hands-on, non-certification class is designed for parents, grandparents, babysitters, and anyone caring for an infant from newborn to 12 months of age. Participants will learn essential lifesaving skills to help respond confidently during an emergency. Topics include infant CPR, choking prevention and relief, emergency response techniques, and current safe sleep recommendations aimed at reducing the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID). During the class, participants will practice skills using infant CPR manikins and real-time feedback devices to improve CPR quality and confidence.Hands-on practice will also include infant choking response techniques and emergency scenarios. Topics Covered: Infant CPR (newborn to 12 months) Choking prevention and response Safe sleep guidelines Reducing the risk of SUID and sleep-related infant deaths Recognizing infant emergencies When and how to call for help. Hands-on practice with CPR manikins and feedback technology. This educational course is designed to increase knowledge, confidence, and preparedness for anyone caring for an infant. Safe & Sound-Grandparent Baby Care ClassGeneral InterestsCalling all new Grandparents!! Becoming a grandparent is an exciting and rewarding experience! Safe & Sound is a hands-on, educational class designed specifically for grandparents who want to feel confident and prepared when caring for their newest family member. This non-certification course combines essential infant safety and emergency response education with practical baby care skills. Participants will learn current recommendations for infant care, including safe sleep practices, feeding, diapering, swaddling, and creating a safe home environment for babies. Grandparents will also gain confidence in responding to emergencies by learning infant CPR, choking relief techniques, and what to do if a baby becomes ill. Hands-on practice includes the use of infant CPR manikins and feedback technology to help build lifesaving skills and confidence. Topics Covered: Infant CPR (newborn to 12 months) Infant choking prevention and response Safe sleep guidelines and reducing the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) Diapering and basic infant hygiene Swaddling techniques and infant comfort Bottle-feeding and feeding safety Recognizing signs of illness and when to seek medical care Creating a safe home environment for babies Car seat and travel safety basics Preventing common household injuries Understanding current infant care recommendations and how they may differ from past practices Emergency preparedness for caregivers Participants will have opportunities for hands-on practice, ask questions, and learn practical tips for caring for infants from newborn to 12 months of age.
